  • What Exactly Are Microgreens?
    Microgreens are baby vegetable greens harvested just after the cotyledon (the first two) leaves of the plant have developed (one week to a month) after 'sprouting' stage. They have an aromatic flavor and concentrated nutrient content (up to 40 x the nurtition of the adult plant), and come in a beautiful variety of colors and textures. Microgreens are considered baby plants, falling somewhere between a sprout and baby green. They are used as a nutrition supplement, a visual enhancement, as well as a flavor and texture enhancement.
  • How Do You Use Them?
    The sky is the limit! Depending on what flavors you prefer, you may mix and match most any microgreen with any dish or smoothy of choice. They pair wonderfully with sandwiches, salads, garnishes to main dishes and soups. I will be posting photos of dishes and recipes I love on my Instagram if you would like some fresh ideas.
  • How To Harvest Them?
    It is quite simple. Take your kitchen scissors and trim slightly above the soil line. Be sure to get high enough above the medium that you do not end up with coconut husk on your stem/in your dish. If you do, no biggie! Just dust off, wash and enjoy.
  • How To Preserve Them Safely?
    It is important to refrigerate Microgreens upon purchase. Refrigeration will preserve the greens flavor and nurtrition (at it's peak), while also preventing mold, gnats or other harmful issues from forming. You may harvest the Microgreens dry and place in a sealed tupperware container or baggie with a paper towel. It is best to refrigerate microgreens dry. Wash your Microgreens only when ready to eat. Note: Some like to put the whole live container into the refrigerator as it is, and that could be ok, assuming you don't have any unpleasant odors or cross contamination to worry about. This is why I recommend going ahead and harvesting your Microgreens and placing in a sealed container. Proper storage will ensure your Microgreens will last for at least a week-two weeks or more.
